Finding Rockstars: AI’s Role in Hiring
“Who is the best person you’ve had in this role?”
As a hiring manager, I care more about your response to this question than what’s written in your job description. Why? Because those “rockstar” hires hold the key to how we identify top talent going forward.
In our recent Elray Search poll, 82% of respondents said they are using AI – and this is one of my favorite ways to use it.
Advanced AI can analyze data on an organization’s top performers to pinpoint the specific traits, skills, and experiences correlating with exceptional performance in a role. It enables predicting future hiring success through a data-driven approach.
The AI might reveal your highest-grossing sales reps share traits like resilience and persuasiveness. Or that top project managers all have early career experience at the same prime. With those insights, we can prioritize assessing candidates for those “rockstar” attributes.
Rather than subjective hiring, predictive AI allows crafting roles based on proven characteristics of top performers. We can screen resumes and interviews more strategically to find those traits, making data-driven decisions.
Of course, identifying stars is just step one. You’d supply the AI with full profiles – skills, experiences, personality data, work samples, etc. More data means stronger predictive accuracy.
This rigorous approach gives a huge talent advantage. Instead of hoping for bullseyes, we equip ourselves with powerful intelligence on what “great” looks like. No crystal ball, but leveraging your top employee data with AI is the next best thing for finding more “rockstars.”
